Our Philosophy

Our Values
Family, Community & Environment

Huntlee ELC is an innovative and family owned and operated childcare centre that is committed to providing high quality care for all families and children. We are passionate professionals dedicated to ensuring that all children are provided with the best head start to their learning and education.

  • We value children as part of a family, and intend to work as a family-friendly environment

  • We are part of a diverse wider community, in which we intend to be active participants

  • We appreciate and value our environment, and will practice sustainability and environmental friendliness

We believe that all children should be treated with equity and that the cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity of families and children should be embraced and acknowledged. We believe in providing an environment that is secure, caring, loving, nurturing and anti-biased. We strive to create a homelike environment that is warm and welcoming.

Huntlee caters for 164 children a day aged between 6 weeks to 6 years. We are open 52 weeks a year and offer wonderful care and educational experiences. We respect the traditional custodians that our centre lays on. The traditional lands of the Wonnaruah people are located in the Hunter Valley area of New South Wales.  According to the Wonnarua dreamtime the Hunter Valley was created by the great spirit, Baime (Byamee). Before Baime there was nothing, everything was sleeping. Baime awoke and created everything, the mountains, plains, rivers and every living thing.

Huntlee is a sub division located in an area called Branxton. Branxton is a small township in the Cessnock shire situated on the New England Highway between Maitland and Singleton. It has several older buildings which reflect the fact that it emerged in the early to mid-19th century as the Hunter Valley was opened up beyond Maitland.  It used to suffer from endless trucks roaring through from Sydney to Brisbane but now, having been bypassed, there is time to admire the historic buildings and wander around the town before heading south to the Hunter Valley vineyards.

We believe that the early years of a child’s life are the most influential. It is within these years that they develop the foundation skills and abilities that will carry them through life. Our role is crucial in fostering and facilitating the child’s development in these years.

We Aim To:

  • Working with the parents and families of the children as partners, recognising families as a child’s primary influence

  • Provide high quality care and education

  • Reinforce positive social behaviour

  • Give feedback and support to caregivers, parents and children

  • Provide a program of experiences which will promote the total development and wellbeing of the children

  • Provide an environment that is rich in resources to stimulate learning and development

  • Recognise and be sensitive to individual differences in children

  • Create a safe, secure, loving and happy environment where all children have a sense of belonging

  • Staff our centre with experienced, nurturing and caring educators

  • Provide a service to parents and the community which reflects their needs
